The Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti and Riedel are presenting an award to a young artist or designer for the design of a work in glass.

The work will be examined by a special commission set up by the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti and chaired by Georg J. Riedel. The award will be made at the presentation of the Glass in Venice 2014 prize,  which will take place in Venice at the Istituto Veneto, in October 2014.

The winner will be offered three nights’ accommodation in Venice at the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti’s guest quarters on the occasion of  the prize giving and a trip to Kufstein (Austria) to visit Riedel, with the following programme:

Riedel Award travel programme
Thursday 27 November 2014: arrival at Munich airport, accommodation in Kufstein, visit to the Riedel factory.
Friday 28 November 2014: ‘master day’, full immersion in the art of glass blowing.
Saturday 29 November 2014: visit to Salzburg and accommodation in the city.
Sunday 30 November 2014: return to the winner’s original place of departure.

HOW TO PARTECIPATE

Participants must be under the age of 30 at the expiry date of the award. They must present a portfolio of their work by 31st May 2014 and, if  requested for a closer examination of their work, one of their products in glass.

The material must be sent by mail, both as printed copy and as digital copy (CD or DVD or USB flash drive), enclosing also a short CV to:

Please note that as deadline (May 31) must be considered the date of delivery to our venue in Venezia, not the date of your sending.
